Counselling & Psychotherapy

Are you feeling depressed or anxious? Maybe you're finding it hard to deal with relationship issues or to come to terms with a bereavement or other traumatic event. If so, counselling can help. Therapy can also help with deeper issues such as long standing difficult feelings, a lack of self esteem or the impact of abuse and trauma. Please read on to find out more about the service I offer.

About Me

MA Integrative Psychotherapy

 BACP Accredited

I am an experienced counsellor and fully accredited with the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy).  I have worked with a wide variety of clients in a number of different settings including an IAPT accredited service (a service providing NHS psychological therapies) where I was a senior therapist. I have also worked in the third sector for charities supporting women and bereaved people.

Prior to becoming a counsellor I worked for many years in various public facing and managerial roles so I have a wealth of experience in helping and supporting people.

I have a particular interest in the medical sciences which stems from my first degree, a BSc (Hons) Pharmacology /Physiology. I use this knowledge to inform my approach to counselling and psychotherapy.

How do I work?

I'm a humanistic/ person-centred practitioner, which means I focus on the individual as a whole person. Sessions are a safe and confidential space for you to explore any issues and difficulties that you may be experiencing without fear of judgement. My compassionate approach encourages people to think about their feelings and take responsibility for their choices and actions.  Therapy can be an emotional and challenging process but ultimately it can help you understand confusing feelings; promote self acceptance and self compassion; help you recognise your strengths  and empower you to choose your best way forward.

Who do I work with?

I have experience of working with adults of all ages including clients living with long term health conditions, learning difficulties and physical disabilities.

If you require more specialist help or if your problem is outside my area of expertise, I will discuss this with you and advise you of alternative sources of support.

Fees & Availability

I understand that 9-5 doesn't work for everyone. With that in mind I offer appointments during the day and early evening.

Sessions last one hour and cost £50. The fee for student counsellors is £45.

I usually see clients face to face in my home office.

The first session is an assessment and lasts only 30 minutes. This is an opportunity for us to meet and find out if I'm the right counsellor for you. I'll want to know a little about you and what brings you to counselling and you find out about me and how I work. This can be done over the phone or face to face. There is no charge for this session.

If you require more specialist help or if your problem is outside my area of expertise, I will discuss this with you and advise you of alternative sources of support.

Hand Embrace

"We think we listen, but very rarely do we listen with real understanding, true empathy. Yet listening, of this very special kind, is one of the most potent forces for change that I know."
